What is an American Corgi? An American Corgi is a Pembroke Welsh Corgi crossed with a Cardigan Welsh Corgi — here, our Pembroke mama Meadow and our Cardigan dad Dalton. You get the classic corgi build and personality, with the Cardigan side opening up colors a Pembroke simply cannot carry.
Why chocolate is rare. Chocolate — and especially chocolate merle — is one of the least common colorings you will find in any corgi. True merle can only come through Cardigan lines, which is why you will not find an honestly-bred merle Pembroke. Ours come by it legitimately, through Dalton.
